Over recent years there has been increased recognition of the need for community-based initiatives to prevent violence against women. Community mobilisation and strengthening has been identified as a key proven and promising technique for prevention in the national framework to prevent violence against women.
Over the past 12 months, Women’s Health West has led the Community Champions for Primary Prevention Action in the West – a community-based primary prevention project to enhance community-led violence prevention action across Melbourne’s west.
This report highlights the 5 main findings from the community consultation process, which was used to inform the development of Act to Prevent Men’s Violence Against Women: A Guide for Community Action (Women’s Health West, 2018), which was launched in June 2018.
