L-R Georgie Crozier, Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Professor Anne Mitchell, Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society
Action for Equity: a sexual and reproductive health plan for Melbourne’s west is a four-year health promotion plan that was developed to improve the sexual and reproductive health of communities in the western region.
The plan was launched by Georgie Crozier the Parliamentary Secretary for Health on 2 October 2013.
In her keynote address, Professor Anne Mitchell described the things she likes about the plan. They include the foundation of strong partnerships, the evidence-base, the social determinants approach and the vision for a community where everyone has the:
- Freedom to express their sexuality
- Right to a healthy, respectful relationship and pleasurable sex life with the partner of their choice
- Ability to control their body and to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health free from violence and discrimination
