Financial literacy

Women understanding money in Australia

This six-week course is about Australian financial systems, and is run for women from newly-arrived communities.

The course is run for a different culturally-specific group of women each time, and we undertake community consultations to ensure the course content suits their needs.

The program aims to increase the capacity of women from newly-arrived communities to negotiate financial systems, take control of financial decision-making and access economic resources.

We deliver the program in partnership with Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre.

‘I am very happy to join this group and the training. Mostly, as a newcomer, when I … do training like this, it gives me and my sisters the opportunity to know our rights. I learned how to budget, to save money, and where I can go for help… It has opened my eyes. We learned how to do our own business, this is the main thing that I learn a lot; to be free…’
