Western Integrated Family Violence Partnership
Women and children affected by family violence in the western region are supported by a consortium of local agencies including Women's Health West, Western Region Health Centre, MacKillop Family Services and Elizabeth Hoffman House in association with The Gathering Place.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Women's Health West provides professional education in relation to gender and diversity issues for workers in the community, health and related fields, sharing lessons from our own work and the skills of our staff, and drawing on the expertise of other professionals from within and beyond our sector.
Prevent violence against women: your organisation can prevent violence against women
Women's Health West offers training for organisations on prevention of violence against women. We also have a series of fact sheets on how to prevent violence against women using health promotion tools.
SECONDARY CONSULTATION SERVICES
Women's Health West staff can provide secondary consultation and advice to health, community and other workers in a range of areas. Such advice can be provided through on-on-one consultations, or our staff may be available to speak to staff groups of other services. Areas of expertise include:
- Working with women and their families from the Horn of Africa, and broader cultural diversity issues
- Health needs of women in the western region, including specific groups such as culturally and linguistically diverse communities and women with a disability
- Women's sexual and reproductive health, including health promotion to diverse communities
- Women's mental health and emotional wellbeing, including health promotion to diverse communities
- Family violence, including options, rights and services for affected women and children
- Working with children affected by family violence, and
- Supporting culturally and linguistically diverse women and children affected by family violence.
