PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Participants in our Horn of Africa training Professional development workshop participants.

Women's Health West provides professional education in relation to gender and diversity issues for workers in the community, health and related fields, sharing lessons from our own work and the skills of our staff, and drawing on the expertise of other professionals from within and beyond our sector. Previous training sessions have included working with families from the Horn of Africa, evaluation methods, housing options for women and working with survivors of sexual assault (with West CASA).

We can also provide training within workplaces. Since 2001, our Family and Reproductive Rights Education Program (FARREP) workers have provided training, consultation and support to doctors, nurses and other staff, aiming to improve services to birthing African women at Western Health.
