Women's health is often thought of simply as reproductive health. This doesn't take into account the social factors that impact on women's health and well-being.
Women's Health Association of Victoria auspiced a series of ten colourful and informative banners outlining key areas of women's health that were launched by Minister Mary Delahunty at the Victorian Women's Health Summit in July 2006.
The portable banners are designed to help distinguish between the ways women and men experience life and how this difference impacts on their health. A broader understanding of sex and gender differences (across government and community) should encourage the development of more appropriate and effective policy and programs for women in Victoria.
Content for each of the banners was developed by women's health services and health promotion agencies.
The lightweight, collapsible banners stand about 2 meters tall when assembled and can be borrowed for display at your event by contacting Women's Health Victoria Clearinghouse by phone on 9662 3755 or email.
