AFTER HOURS CRISIS SUPPORT

Women's Health West hosts a number of services to support women and children affected by family and domestic violence. Phone us for information and referral to a range of services.

One of the services available is After Hours Crisis Support. If you need support because of family violence outside business hours, you can call the Women's Domestic Violence Crisis Service of Victoria on 9373 0123 or 1800 015 188, and they can put you in touch with an After Hours Worker. If your first language is not English, the Worker can use an interpreter.

After Hours Workers are available for phone support at any time up until midnight on weekdays, and 24 hours on weekends and public holidays. They may also be available to give you practical and face-to-face support in a safe and neutral place up until 10pm.

After Hours Workers can support you in a range of ways:

Emotional support and information: If there is violence in your family, friends and other family members can be vital supports. An After Hours Worker can also give you emotional support and information, and to help you think through your options.

Ensuring your and your children's safety: You and your children have the right to be safe from violence and the fear of violence. An After Hours Worker can give you information and practical support to ensure your safety, and refer you to a range of services for ongoing support, including Outreach Support.

Information and referral: An After Hours Worker can link you to a wide range of other services that can help you and your children. These include Outreach Support and other specific family violence services, Centres Against Sexual Assault, children's services, free or low-cost counselling, refuges, housing services, financial counsellors and services for men who use violence and wish to change their behaviour.

If you need support outside business hours, call 9373 0123 or 1800 015 188.
If you need an interpreter, first call the Telephone Interpreter Service (24 hours) on 131 450. They will connect you with the service you want
